The City of Jackson is seeking Artist Proposals for a mural project to be completed on the concrete wall (128ft. long by 17ft high) behind Tressler's Kwik Serve at the intersection of Ca Highways 49 & 88 in Amador County.

  • The mural should represent the culture and history of Amador County in general but may be specific to one or more geographic locations.
  • The mural submission may consist of one coordinated panel or several panels together. There has been no pre-determined vision of any final design.
  • Each artist may submit more than one rendering but each rendering must be a detailed and complete scaled version of the final product.
  • Artists are encouraged to include community and/or student participation in their proposal.

Instructions:

Please submit your proposal to AmadorArts at PO Box 206, Sutter Creek, CA 95685 no later than October 1st, 2015.

All artistic submissions must be accompanied by a statement identifying the specific steps the artist will take to complete the project. These must include site preparation, process for solicitation of student and community participation, equipment needs, expected material needs and estimated costs, and a completion timeline.

Completion of similar sized projects is not a requirement but will be a factor in artist selection.

Please include in a separate sealed envelope the minimum compensation acceptable.

This project will be totally funded by donations from both public and private sources and those donations are expected not to exceed $25,000.00

The selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Will it be visually appealing to the traveling motorist on Hwy 88 and Hwy 49?
  • Are students or community members allowed useful participation?
  • Can it be completed without interfering with the business operation of the site?
  • Has the artist completed similar projects in the past?
