Artist Call Alameda County Artwork Purchase Program SF Bay Area The Arts Commission is building a public collection of artwork created by Alameda County artists. Artwork purchased through the 2008 Purchase Program will become part of the Alameda County Art Collection: Artwork by Alameda County Artists and will be placed at County buildings. The goal of this program is to continue to collect artwork that is of high-quality and original in design and idea and that reflects the wide range of excellent artwork created by Alameda County artists with diversity in style, medium, and concept. The Art Collection includes artwork that illuminates the history, culture, language, and traditions of this region; engenders a sense of continuity and belonging among the members of our community; and promotes understanding of cultural values and perspectives of all people. Up to $75,000 is available this year to purchase existing artwork. Eligibility Requirement: These opportunities are open to practicing, professional visual artists who live, are permanently employed, or rent/own an artist's studio in Alameda County. The cities and communities of Alameda County include: Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Dublin, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, Oakland, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Sunol, Union City, and other unincorporated areas. To qualify for this project, artists must minimally live, own a business or be employed on a continuous basis within the County of Alameda for the duration of the entire project, from the point at which the application is submitted through the review process and the final purchase of artwork.
