Intergenerational Art Exhibit Displays the Diversity of the East Bay
September 1, 2017
Oakland, CA– The Museum of Children’s Arts is proud to announce that it is accepting submissions for the second annual intergenerational exhibit My First Art Show. Last year’s successful run of the exhibition featured over 160 pieces of artwork from over 90 artists, ranging in age from 2 to 94.
This year we are hoping for an even better turnout than last. My First Art Show, an open art call for all ages, all sizes, all mediums; is an art exhibition and a silent auction in which 30% of sales will go to support MOCHA’s arts programs.
We will be accepting submissions from September 1 – September 20, 2017. You can drop off your work at MOCHA Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm during that period.
The exhibition will open to the public on beginning September 27, 2017. On Saturday, September 30, 2017, MOCHA will be hosting Art.com Day from 10:00am – 1:00pm. It is a FREE Community Day where we hope families will be inspired by the exhibition, turn that inspiration into creation at the various art stations we will have and take home new masterpieces.
Art.com recently announced that it will fund MOCHA’s Library Education & Art Program (LEAP) – which was previously canceled due to lack of funding—for the entire school year. This after-school arts program is drop-in and completely free for attendees. Also part of LEAP are the FREE Art.com Days that MOCHA will host quarterly.
My First Art Show’s Last Call is the culminating event for the silent auction and close of the exhibition. Here you can enjoy adult refreshments, place your last bids on art and see if you get to go home with something new as at the end of the evening all sales will be final. MOCHA’s Board of Directors will be hosting the evening’s activities that will take place on October 21, 2017 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
Be a part of this collaborative experience where we can all share our talents, stories and vision with the larger community.
