Contemporary Art Gallery - Los Angeles

A rapidly growing and internationally renowned Los Angeles contemporary art gallery seeks a highly motivated, extremely organized, hardworking, and team-oriented individual to fill the position of Registrar. This position is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, and requires flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the Gallery.


  • -Oversee and manage entire inventory of artworks with assistance of Associate Registrar, including database management and upkeep
  • Coordinate photography, conservation/restoration, framing and necessary documentation pertaining to all incoming and outgoing artworks as needed
  • Manage incoming and outgoing consignments and loans
  • Oversee coordination of transportation logistics and handling of all incoming and outgoing artworks — liaising with clients, artists, and vendors
  • Maintain offsite and onsite storage inventory with assistance of Associate Registrar and Head Preparator
  • Prepare and supply installation instructions with assistance of Head Preparator, Artist Liaisons, and/or Artists
  • Work with the Exhibitions + Fairs Coordinator and Archivist departments to stay apprised of all dates and deadlines surrounding exhibitions and art fairs


  • Bachelor of Arts degree with prior experience working in a registrar role at a gallery, museum or comparable arts organization
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and art history
  • Knowledge of various artwork media and fabrication materials and methods, as well as general handling and packing practices and procedures 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • High attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to implement and manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to creatively problem solve
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Mac computers, Microsoft Office programs, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience using an inventory database program such as ArtBase preferred
