ONE Archives Foundation is seeking an experienced Development Manager with the ability to support the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that expands the programmatic and financial capacity of the Foundation. Our mission is to support and make accessible to scholars, writers, journalist, historians, and public audiences the world’s largest archive of historical, literary, and artistic content related to the LGBTQ community through education programming, exhibitions, and community outreach.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager is a key staff member responsible for increasing individual, foundation, and corporate and government giving. This position supports the Executive Director and Director of Development in creating and executing annual fund gift cultivation and solicitation, donor stewardship, database management, grant writing, corporate stewardship, and event management. A special focus will be given to initiating strategies to build engaging membership and leadership giving programs in collaboration with the Director of Development.
ONE Archives Foundation is independently incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization and supports the work of the ONE Archives at the University of Southern California (USC) Libraries. The Foundation’s administrative offices are located in Hollywood, where the position is based, with occasional travel to the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with flexibility to periodically work evenings and weekends required. The position offers medical/dental/vision benefits. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Employees of the ONE Archives Foundation are not employees of USC and are not eligible for USC benefits.
- Create identification, cultivation, and stewardship strategies for new and existing donors, with a focus on sustaining gifts.
- Manage an individual portfolio of donors and prospects to ensure regular communication and active engagement. Emphasis on maintaining or increasing renewal rate of assigned portfolio.
- Collaboratively work with Director of Development to draft annual fundraising plan including the design and implementation of new membership, leadership giving, and corporate giving programs. Ensure timely donor acknowledgment and stewardship.
- Collaborate with Director of Development, Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Development Committee to support fundraising efforts and provide reports on development activities.
- Supervise the entering, managing, analyzing, and reporting information within the donor database.
- Manage the organization’s annual grants calendar, including submission of applications and reports as required. Prepare Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) and proposals to government, corporate, and private funders.
- Liaise with existing and new corporate partners and local businesses.
- Organize donor meetings, site visits, and events.
- Provide donor prospecting/research as required.
- Work collaboratively with team members to develop electronic and direct mail campaigns and appeals, alongside donor engagement materials.
- Represent the ONE Archives Foundation by periodically conducting tours of the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries to donors, prospects, and other stakeholders.
- Attend external events as a representative of the ONE Archives Foundation, and periodically give presentations on behalf of the ONE Archives Foundation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on the implementation and execution of donor stewardship and engagement events, and other events as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years direct nonprofit fundraising experience. Previous experience with nonprofit fundraising in California/Southern California a plus.
- Knowledge of fundraising information sources, research techniques, data management
- and evaluation.
- Demonstrated fundraising success in fast-paced, entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations.
- Demonstrated success in procuring individual gifts and building creative and mutually beneficial partnerships within the nonprofit, public and corporate sectors.
- Significant organizational skills including ability to work well with colleagues, senior management and Board members to achieve fundraising goals.
- Experience managing proposal deadlines and contract deliverables.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, with outstanding attention to detail.
- Understanding of the ONE Archives Foundation’s mission and the ability to work with diverse donor constituencies.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent years of education and experience.
- Experience in a nonprofit environment and an interest in issues of LGBTQ history and culture in the U.S. and Southern California.
- Ability to travel locally, regionally, or nationally as needed. Mileage is reimbursed per federal rates for work-related travel (not regular commuting).
- Willing and able to work some early morning, evenings and/or weekends for meetings, programs and special events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position mostly operates in a shared workspace office environment, but may include work at outdoor and off-site events, or driving vehicles for programmatic needs. The office setting requires an ability to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk, and hear. It also requires regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. This position may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 20 pounds.
The salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, medical/dental/vision benefits are offered.
