Art Instructor/Ceramics

Exceptional Children’s Foundation, a growing nonprofit social service agency serving clients with developmental disabilities throughout LA County, is seeking an experienced Ceramics Art Instructor for our art center in San Pedro.

Summary:

The Ceramics Instructor will work with adult artists who have developmental disabilities, teaching a variety of ceramic techniques and helping them create their own unique artwork for sale and exhibition.  Responsibilities also include ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, and helping to maintain an overall enjoyable studio for all participants.  Knowledge and interest in contemporary art needed. Instructor will implement artistic, educational, and behavioral treatment plans monthly.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, technical ceramic skills, and six months related experience.    Knowledge of kiln operation, throwing wheel, and other ceramic tools, demonstrated via a portfolio of finished work.  Knowledge and interest in contemporary art needed.  Experience with the developmentally disabled community is highly preferred, but not required..

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Salary: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
