The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the position of Ceramic Studio Supervisor (Recreation Supervisor). This position has primary responsibility of planning, developing, and supervising recreation programs, including classes, activities, workshops, special events, and art residency/studio programs for all ages and abilities.
The Ceramics Studio Supervisor is responsible for all operations of the studio including developing classes, camps for youth, and programming for adults; organization and maintenance of studio; operation of the studio kilns (both gas and electric); supervise glaze room; maintain supply inventory. The Ceramic Supervisor will assist in the development of the studio budget, including operating and personnel expenditure allocations and evaluate actual costs for conformance to plans.
The Ceramic Studio Supervisor must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, executives, consultants, contractors, and members of the public with the utmost use of tact, prudence and courtesy. The City prides itself on providing exceptional customer service. This position may work and require to work shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in ceramics, leisure services, recreation management, physical education, or related field.
- Training and Experience: Two (2) years of paid full-time arts recreation experience or three (3) years of part-time arts recreation and program planning experience is required, including supervisory, administrative, teaching, studio work, studio management, and program planning work.
- License: A valid California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record will be required at the time of employment.
MONTHLY SALARY: $4,937-$6,347
