Industrial Design Shop Technician

  • Hours will be determined upon hiring.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work weekends, mornings or night hours.

Job Description:

Work with a great group of creative-minded “gear heads”, assisting in the day-to-day operation of a state-of-the-art fabrication and painting shop facility. Be involved in assisting college Industrial Design students to construct their original projects in our wood, metal, machine, plastics, and paint shops, as they turn their exciting concepts into real prototypes. Responsibilities range from handing out tools and solid advice to maintaining machinery and mixing paint and dispensing resins. This is an optimal opportunity for artists with fabrication experience who enjoys toys, furniture, cars and new product development.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of some shop tools a must
  • Knowledge in the following four shop areas a plus: plastic, wood, metal, and paint
  • Ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of Industrial Design and enjoy sharing this with a diverse student population
  • Excellent customer service skills a must
  • Candidates must be safety minded
  • Familiarity with spray painting and/or prototype fabrication is a big plus!

Pay rate: $17/hr.

Benefits:
