Artist Liaison

Job Description:

The SummerFest Artist Liaison is the primary contact and resource for visiting artists throughout the duration of the festival. The Artist Liaison’s main role is to ensure the comfort of Artists by working collaboratively with La Jolla Music Society staff to meet their needs.

Self-directed responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Act as primary point of contact for Artist questions and concerns, and be on call to handle urgent situations at any time
  • Assist with database maintenance and editing master SummerFest schedule
  • Build comprehensive Artist Binders which include individual schedules, driving directions, concert programs, general SummerFest information, invitations, and more
  • Gather and prepare materials for Artist Welcome Bags
  • Arrange distribution of Artist Welcome Bags for local artists
  • Communicate Artist complimentary ticket requests to Artist Services Coordinator
  • Participate in production meetings and other events as assigned, including concerts, rehearsals, workshops, interviews, and special events
Housing and Travel:
  • Greet Artists at airport with Welcome Bag and transport to car rental agency or host home
  • Provide ground transportation assistance for Artists by managing the creation and distribution of individualized maps, directions to venues, and resolving any rental car issues that may arise
  • Drive Artists to rehearsals and engagements as needed
  • Liaise with SummerFest Hosts regarding Artist arrival and departure times, and work with Artist Services Coordinator and Housing Coordinator to accommodate any special requests as needed
  • Update SummerFest Database with any changes to housing or transportation arrangements
  • Assist with procurement and return of Fellowship Artist rental cars
  • Contractor Requirements:

The Artist Liaison must be self-directed.  The goals and objectives of the Artist Liaison will be set by La Jolla Music Society.  The direction, manner, and means by which those objectives are carried out are up to the Artist Liaison and will be fully dependent on his or her own management and organizational skills. 

  • Candidate must commit to full availability (including nights and weekends) from
  • July 11th through August 27th
  • Ability and willingness to manage extremely demanding schedule and work load
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain composed and positive under high-stress situations
  • High level of maturity and professionalism
  • Must be a team player who can work cooperatively with many different personalities
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of classical music repertoire and the local area is helpful 
Compensation: Stipend of $2,750 to be paid in bi-weekly installments, plus use of 7-passenger rental van for duration of the festival
