Studio 210 Summer Residency Coordinator

Deborah Slater Dance Theater (DSDT) is seeking a Residency Coordinator for our sixth annual Studio 210 Summer Residency. The position begins in February and runs through the beginning of August 2017, with potential for renewing the contract yearly. Responsibilities include marketing the application, administration, organization, co-curation and promotion of the annual Studio 210 Residency activities, including but not limited to recruiting and selecting artists, scheduling, hiring technicians, designing and printing flyers and cards, coordinating rehearsals, feedback sessions, performances, photo and documentation, and offering artistic and administrative support. The candidate will work closely with the Administrative and Marketing Coordinator on Marketing and Public Relations. Duties will include writing and submitting a press release, setting up interviews on radio/print/online, interest group Marketing, and social media promotion. 

Our ideal candidate is passionate about supporting artists exploring questions through experimentation and has experience with arts administration. Desired qualifications include basic graphic design and office skills including Google Docs, Dropbox, and Office Software.

The individual should also possess a curatorial point of view for the residency, grounded in what is happening in the world and how that affects the artists and audiences, the making of work, and the ecologies of the larger arts field. Each coordinator has brought their own skills and critical perspective to the table, and the ideal candidate should have ideas and perspectives that allow them to put their stamp on the program and to make this a compelling residency to be involved with from any angle.

About Deborah Slater Dance Theater: DSDT produces full-length works exploring social issues through original movement, text and music, using visually gorgeous, acrobatic, talking dance. Their umbrella non-profit, Art of the Matter Performance Foundation, runs Studio 210, a rehearsal & performance space and the Studio 210 Summer Residency Program, based in San Francisco, California. Hours / compensation: approximately 100 hours - compensation depends on experience

Interviews will begin mid-January. Application open until filled.

The residency will take place from June 5th -July 29th

The position runs from February until the beginning of August.
