Company General Manager
Alonzo King LINES Ballet

The General Manager of Alonzo King LINES Ballet functions as the business manager, actively managing all financial and administrative operations, including but not limited to:


Administration of all production activities –

  • Oversee and manage the performance company production department from a financial, contractual, and administrative perspective;
  • Supervise Company staff
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding all licensing, permits, certificates and relevant documentation relevant to the performances of LINES Ballet, interfacing with the Production Manager and Director of Finance and Operations
  • Facilitate communication between Artistic, Production, Marketing, Development and Administrative departments;
  • Liaise with ED, Development and Marketing around engagement events. 
  • Manage all professional/production contracts, maintaining ongoing relationships with the contact entities, interfacing with the Director of Finance and Operations for record keeping and compliance.
  • Contracts include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Venue/Performance spaces:

      Yerba Buena Center for the Arts  
      • Professional Touring Contracts
      • Negotiate and execute all contracts for artistic collaborations including but not limited to:
        • Composers
        • Musicians
        • Designers (Costume, Lighting, Scenic, Projection, etc.)
        • Music rights & royalties
        • Video production and broadcast companies
  • Create annual touring and production calendar
  • Attends bi-monthly managers meeting
  • Oversee Company dancer MOUs


Budget development and management, purchasing control and feasibility analysis-

  • Responsible for tracking and status of annual production budget, individual project budgets and touring budgets, when applicable;
  • Interface with Director of Finance and Operations during the developmental phase of budgeting in order to fully support the overarching organizational budget;
  • Responsible for cost analysis/projections for all proposed budgets;
  • Track all production expenses and interface with Director of Finance regarding all reforecasts
  • Manage production accounts receivable with Production Manager


Responsible for coordinating travel logistics for all artistic collaborators and tours including but not limited to: 

  • Airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and per diems
  • Process all paperwork for foreign artists visas  
  • Responsible for development and implementation of tour budgets, when applicable;
  • Process all paperwork for company visas for touring


  • Previous general management or company management experience required
  • Working knowledge of technical aspects of dance and theater productions
  • Bachelor degree required 
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act with diplomacy
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience negotiating and issuing contracts
  • Appreciation for the arts, familiarity with music is a plus.
  • Enjoy working in a high energy, community-based environment

This is a full time position with benefits.

The General Manager reports to Creative Director.

The Production Manager, Ballet Master and Dancers report to the General Manager.
