It's springtime in California ... days are getting longer, pollen is in the air, and the California Arts Council has been working hard with back-to-back events and projects since the beginning of the year. Here's some of the things we've been doing, and what's coming up.

Approximately once a year the California Arts Council uses in-house talent and sweat to create a public-value driven PSA on the arts. This year we're proposing a collaborative project, and we need your help.

Assemblyman Leno Recognizes SF Poet Laureate

Assemblyman Mark Leno of San Francisco presented San Francisco Poet Laureate Jack Hirschman with a proclamation at the statewide convening of local California poets laureate during the evening of April 2, 2008, in Sacramento. Here's what Assemblyman Leno had to say.

Biography for California Poetry Out Loud 2008 Winner

Roshawnda Bettencourt, a senior at Oakmont High School in Roseville (Placer County), has been actively involved in acting and theater since her sophomore year. She'll be representing California in the national Poetry Out Loud finals on April 29, 2008.
