BIG NEWS! Announcing our 2015-16 Grant Programs Lineup

At a public meeting in Santa Cruz on Wednesday, September 30, the California Arts Council adopted its program budget for fiscal year 2015-16. The Council will invest $8.6 million in a total of ten competitive grant programs that will serve a wide variety of California's communities through engagement with the arts, creative expression, and cultural experiences. The announcement includes details on two new grant programs: Artists Activating Communities, supporting sustained artistic residencies in community settings and Cultural Pathways, supporting emerging arts programs rooted in communities of color, recent immigrant and refugee communities, or tribal groups.  MORE >>

State Cultural Districts: What's Next?

Many of you have responded enthusiastically to our announcement last week on the Governor's signing of the bill empowering the California Arts Council to designate areas as Cultural Districts. We will be undergoing a thorough planning process in order to develop our statewide cultural districts program, with an expected program launch in mid-2016.

We encourage any interested parties to join our Cultural Districts information list to stay up-to-date on the program as it develops, and/or to identify your community as a potential applicant. Sign-up here!   MORE >>
