CA organizations among Arts and Humanities award finalists

Three California programs have been selected as finalists for the 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards. In partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services—the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards initiative is the country's highest honor for after-school and out-of-school arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of America's young people, particularly those from underserved communities. Twelve of the 50 finalists will be selected to receive a $10,000 grant and capacity-building and communications support, designed to make their organizations stronger.

Congratulations to all the Golden State finalists: Monterey County Free Libraries, and two California Arts Council grantees—Each One Reach One, Inc. and Destiny Arts Center! Award winners will be notified by the end of June.  MORE >>

The report documents the economic contributions of the arts in 341 diverse communities and regions across the country, representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The study puts to rest a misconception that communities support arts and culture at the expense of local economic development.   MORE >>
