Arts in Corrections radio project receives journalism award

Arts in Corrections provider KALW's San Quentin Radio project was honored last month by the Society of Professional Journalists of Northern California, earning the award for best feature reporting produced between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018. Five incarcerated men were recognized for their work against a field of professional audio journalists from north of Santa Barbara to the Oregon border and from the Nevada border to the coast. San Quentin Radio is one of two KALW projects supported by the Arts in Corrections program. Listen to stories from KALW's San Quentin Radio and Uncuffed here.

Teaching Artist Guild launches new teaching artist asset map

Our partners at the Teaching Artist Guild have developed an interactive, multi-layered digital map to showcase the depth and breadth of the field of teaching artistry. The mapping initiative aims to make the work of the arts field visible, strengthen the network of arts providers, and bolstering arts education and teaching artistry. The map will also provide insight into which populations are being served, enabling a more comprehensive study of equity and access to arts education. Individual teaching artists and arts and cultural organizations can create a profile and be added to the national directory. Click here for more info and to register.
