NEW! Funding available for prison arts program development

Is your organization interested in getting involved with our Arts in Corrections program, but you aren't fully there yet? This opportunity is for you! Up to $25,000 is available in support for innovative projects, training, and mentorship opportunities intended to break down the barriers of prison arts programming and work in state correctional settings. Funding is available both to current Arts in Corrections Coordinating Organizations and organizations interested in providing arts programming through the California Arts Council's Arts in Corrections program in the future. The deadline for proposals is April 22. Learn more here.

New bill would establish CA Youth Poet Laureate Position

The California Arts Council hopes to expand the relevancy of the state's appointed poetry positions to California's next generation as the sponsor of Senate Bill 748, authored by Senator Henry Stern, with coauthors Senators Ben Allen and Robert Hertzberg, creating the new appointed position of California Youth Poet Laureate. April is Arts, Culture & Creativity Month

Californians for the Arts has officially declared the month of April to be Arts, Culture and Creativity Month in the state of California, dedicated to connection, advocacy and mobilized efforts to advance the arts across the state. The monthlong campaign features multiple ways to participate through trainings, storytelling, events, public action and more, culminating in a big event on April 23 at the state Capitol in Sacramento for Arts Advocacy Day.
