Celebrating 500 issues of ArtBeat!

It's been 11 years and 500 issues since ArtBeat was first published! On February 20, 2008, the day our first ever e-newsletter was issued, things looked a little different at the CAC:

THEN: Arts Advocacy Day on March 5, 2008
NOW: April is Arts, Culture and Creativity Month in California

THEN: Governor's proposed budget reduces state funding to $1.2 million
NOW: Governor's proposed budget increases state funding to $26 million

THEN: California's 3rd annual Poetry Out Loud State Finals features high school champions from 20 counties
NOW: California's 14th annual Poetry Out Loud State Finals features high school champions from 52 counties

THEN & NOW: ArtBeat continues to be a valuable place for the field of arts and culture, artists and arts communities across the state to stay up to date on the latest news from the California Arts Council.

Your Voice Matters: Strategic Framework 2020

The CAC has begun its work to develop an up-to-date and relevant strategic framework to guide our next five to seven years of serving California's communities through culture, creativity, and the arts. Placing equity and community at the center of this planning project, we want to hear from you! There's a seat at the table for anyone with rooted interest in the future of arts, culture and community in our state.
