CAC Administrators of Color Fellowship applications openThe School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza (SOAC), an Administering Organization of the California Arts Council, has announced the opening of the California Arts Council Administrators of Color Fellowship program. The statewide pilot program will match 10 arts administrators of color, Fellows, with an arts and culture organization, Host Organizations, dedicated to equity and community engagement for a nine- to 12-month fellowship. Apply by July 31.
COVID-19 Arts Watch - Federal Data UpdateWork by the Arts Endowment Research team shows that federal data has begun to chart the disproportionate toll of COVID-19 on the arts sector, compared with many other segments of the U.S. economy. According to the most recent period of data collection from the U.S. Census Bureau, 71 percent of small businesses in the "Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation" sector reported a "large negative effect" from the pandemic, compared with 43 percent of all small businesses. Reopening resources added to CAC COVID-19 webpageAfter following state and local public health guidelines, some arts venues and events may be seeking specific tools as they plan ahead for possibly reopening. The California Arts Council COVID-19 News & Resources page has a newly added "Reopening" section to aid in guiding arts organizations and venues on how to resume operations safely and in consideration of both patrons and staff. Upcoming deadlines for NEA Grants: Arts Projects & Our TownDeadlines are upcoming for two National Endowment for the Arts grant categories: Arts Projects support artistically excellent projects that celebrate our creativity and cultural heritage, invite mutual respect for differing beliefs and values, and enrich humanity. The deadline for the second round of Arts Projects funding is July 9. Our Town grants support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes.
