December Guideline Workshops for California Arts Council Grant Programs

Staff to instruct on best practices when applying for California Arts Council "Artists in Schools" and "Creating Public Value" Grants

Sacramento -

The California Arts Council will present a series of Guideline Workshops in various locations in California to guide potential grant applicants on the best practices for the California Arts Council's "Artists in Schools" and "Creating Public Value" grant programs. Workshops will take place in Fresno, Stockton, Vallejo, Bakersfield, Lakeport, Visalia, Modesto and San Benito. The workshops take place between December 11 and 20, 2007.

"The California Arts Council is dedicated to providing equal access to our grant programs throughout California," said California Arts Council Director Muriel Johnson. "The guideline workshops are designed to specifically assist first-time applicants in learning the grant-writing process for California Arts Council programs."

Details on locations and dates of workshops are on the following pages. The "Artists in Schools" program -- intended to integrate community arts resources with standards-based K-12 arts education instruction -- has a deadline of January 30, 2008. The "Creating Public Value" program supports arts organizations making a positive contribution to the individual and collective lives of the citizens of California and addresses relationship-building, relevance to the community, and return on investment; application deadline is January 23, 2008.
