Legislature passes historic budget package after all-night session; Governor signed on Friday, February 20
California Arts Council's budget same as Governor's proposal in January
After a series of long legislative sessions, some lasting until the wee hours of the morning, with the last until seven a.m. on the morning of Thursday, February 19, the California State Legislature approved a budget package for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The Governor signed the budget package on Friday, February 20.
The budget for the California Arts Council is $5.6 million -- the same as proposed by Governor Schwarzenegger in January -- with approximately $1.1 million from the General Fund, $1.1 million from the federal government, $3.2 million from the Arts License Plate Fund, and $.2 million in reimbursements.
