An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and AAM accredited, the Japanese American National Museum ( is recognized as one of the nation’s premier cultural museums. The National Museum is located adjacent to the Metro Gold Line in the Little Tokyo/Arts district in downtown Los Angeles, a neighborhood that has experienced an exciting revitalization with diverse new restaurants, shops, luxury apartments, and nightlife.

The mission of the Japanese American National Museum, home of the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, is to promote understanding and appreciation of America’s ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the Japanese American experience.

The Exhibitions Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall coordination, management and implementation of the National Museum’s exhibition program in collaboration with the VP of Exhibitions and other program staff. This includes managing exhibition budgets and reporting, coordinating meetings and communications, assisting in content management, and ensuring institutional priorities are met through the implementation of a multifaceted exhibition program.

Bachelors degree in Museum Studies, Asian American Studies, Ethnic Studies or American History preferred. At least three years of professional experience working in a non-profit organization in project management with prior work on exhibitions in a museum highly desired. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast paced team-environment and work well under pressure while still meeting deadlines. Demonstrate commitment and flexibility at all times in order to ensure high quality service. Ability to adjust and provide appropriate action when unanticipated needs arise. Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture a plus. Will require weekend and some evening hours based upon exhibition schedule. Preferred schedule Tuesday-Saturday.

Experience with MS Office and Gmail preferred. Familiarity with TMS database and Google Calendar preferred. Visit for full JD and application form. EOE.
