The Japanese American National Museum is a new model for American museums dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening community through the exploration of diverse histories, arts and cultures. The National Museum is currently seeking a Part-Time Visitor Services Associate to work 16 hours a week with a preferred schedule of Friday & Saturday with flexibility for additional hours as needed.

Visitor Services Associates are responsible for providing excellent front-line customer service to museum guests in the front lobby, over the phone and via email. Must provide welcoming professional service to all museum guests from individuals to groups of all sizes. Duties include process museum admission, direct all incoming phone calls, and disseminate general information on exhibitions and museum program offerings.

High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Min one year front-line customer service/receptionist experience and assisting with the general public as guests. Sensitivity to Japanese American and Asian American history, culture, and community required. Familiarity with point of sale system (Altru) and handling payments. Requires ability to multi-task with strong interpersonal, communications and organizational skills, including professional telephone etiquette. Prior non-profit experience and working with volunteers is highly desired. Computer literate (MS Office), Google Calendar, Gmail and Google docs preferred. Background Check required.
