The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is currently seeking a:
Project Archivist (Part-Time)
Founded in 1919, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's mission is to perform, present, and promote music in its varied forms at the highest level of excellence to a diverse and large audience, both at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is dedicated to continuing its pre-eminent status in the music world of the 21st century.
The Project Archivist performs archival duties that require working knowledge of archival management principles to assist Archives’ patrons and to organize, describe and promote access to historical materials. The Project Archivist reports to the Digital Archives Manager and assists with all aspects of reference, arrangement and description and preservation of materials in all formats.
Digitizing collections for ingest into Digital Asset Management system
Evaluating and systematizing data in Archives’ cataloging system to prepare for migration into new collections management system
Processing and indexing physical and digital collections
Assisting in research requests as necessary
Additional departmental duties as assigned
MLS or MLIS degree from ALA-accredited institution with concentration in Archival Studies
At least 1 year of professional archival experience
Understanding of nationally accepted standards, tools and best practices for archival processing, description and administration
Excellent organizational, communication and research skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, experience with databases)
Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of classical music and classical music industry is a plus
