Institutional Giving Associate
The Contemporary Jewish Museum

Position Summary

The Institutional Giving Associate will provide direct support to the Director of Institutional Giving in the implementation of The Contemporary Jewish Museum (The CJM)’s comprehensive fundraising plans with corporations, foundations and government agencies.  The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for The CJM’s mission and have direct experience with best practices in non-profit fundraising for the arts and/or Jewish philanthropy.  

Key Responsibilities

Support the Director of Institutional Giving to meet or exceed annual income goals for corporate, foundation and government giving, through the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct prospect research and recommend prospects for solicitation
  • Assist with cultivation, stewardship, and acquisition of corporate, foundation and government donors
  • Develop and maintain fundraising administrative tools including Raiser’s Edge, prospect profiles, solicitation and reporting calendars, and spreadsheets for tracking income and progress towards goals
  • Support all aspects of information gathering, writing, preparing, and submitting fundraising reports
  • Provide research, information gathering, writing, and preparation for submitting fundraising proposals to corporations, foundations and government agencies
  • Manage grant fulfillment including writing acknowledgement letters, sending grant agreements and packages to donors
  • Assist with donor and VIP stewardship events and tours
  • Prepare materials for internal and external meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Two or more years of related work experience, ideally in a non-profit development office
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and internet based research
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising databases

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local and national philanthropy for the arts and culture
  • Flexibility and focus to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Interest in and commitment to the mission of The Contemporary Jewish Museum
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events, as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive reading and writing via computer
