arts-X-press Resident Coordinator

Job Title: arts-X-press Resident Coordinator

Compensation: Negotiated privately at time of interview

Department: Education & Community Engagement

Reports to: arts-X-press Manager and Managing Director

Employment Status: Seasonal employment, hourly non-exempt

Position Summary:  The arts-X-press Resident Coordinator assists the arts-X-press Manager in the smooth running of daily operations while the program is in session. The resident coordinator is expected to sleep on campus for the duration of the assigned 5-day session(s).

Essential Functions:

  • Live onsite during program and assist in daily operations of the program including:
    • Providing schedules, information and keys for staff and counselors
    • Office tasks such as checking e-mail and voice mail
    • Distribution and collection of keys
    • ArtsMart sales and reconciliation
    • Assist teaching staff with schedules, supplies, equipment, and other organizational needs
    • Set-up and clean-up of classrooms
    • Errands as necessary
    • Greeting/hosting visitors
    • Confirming buses and meals
    • Execution of the Parent Presentation
    • Preparation and support for excursions 
  • Resident coordinator is expected to drive separately to excursion sites in order to provide support should a student or staff need to be transported by car.
    • Documenting daily activities via photos and blog posts
    • Other duties as needed
  • Assist with counselor and staff training.
  • Assist with load-in and load-out of program.
  • Assist with onsite organization during student orientations and staff training.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: College degree or degree in progress preferred.

Experience: Previous experience with arts-X-press required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have strong organizational, detail-management and communication skills. 
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Proficient in internet tools including social networking
  • Must take independent initiative and good judgment to resolve problems as they arise
  • Enthusiastic about working with children, volunteers, and artists and able to manage events in a flexible, calm, patient, and forgiving manner.
  • Must own a cell phone
  • Must have own transportation and a valid drivers license.
  • Experience managing large-scale events a plus

Supervisory Responsibility: While executing programs responsible for student participant safety at all times.

Working Conditions: This position requires living onsite the duration of the assigned session. The average work day ranges from 10 to 16 hours.  There is quite a bit of walking, sometimes up to 2-3 miles in a day, and going up and down hills. Lifting of 10-25 pounds may be required.
