|Woodland Tomato Festival||Food|
The Woodland Tomato Festival celebrates each bountiful Yolo County tomato season with a fun day of food, entertainment, educational and recreational activities, and local crafts. The event is held at downtown Freeman Park, home of the Woodland Farmers' Market.
In the morning local farmers sell tomatoes as well as a rich assortment of other seasonal fruits and vegetables. A free tomato tasting will allow you to taste and compare heirloom varieties such as Cherokee Purple, Green Zebra, Pink Lady, and Big Beef, as well as modern varieties. The salsa competition will highlight hot sauces prepared by local restaurants with Festival attendees tasting and judging the entries. Children will find plenty to do in the play area, and crafts people will be selling an assortment of their wares. Exhibits will highlight Yolo County tomato growing and UC Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your gardening questions. Free entertainment will be provided in the park gazebo.
Festival has a children/youth component.
