The California Nut Festival was originally established in 2006 as a fundraising initiative for the Chico Museum and Patrick Ranch Museum restoration and features awareness and consumption of local agricultural products.. The festival itself takes place throughout Chico over the course of a two-week period in the form of various educational events including a blossom tour, book club, spelling bee, a Celebrity Chef cooking demonstration at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and other activities.
